For over 25 years Bets van Boxel has diligently worked from her studio, de Poppenstee, which is located in the Netherlands. Her renovated farmhouse studio is named quite appropriately: poppen is the Dutch word for doll and stee refers to the type of farmhouse found in the area! Over the years, Bets has traveled the world meeting children from different cultures. Bets captures their character and universal charm with a natural and expressive warmth, innocence and poise. Gathering many of her materials on her trips, Bets chooses fine antique and unusual fabrics, colors and accessories to complement her dolls and remain authentic to her inspiration.
