Beautiful Handpainted & Handcarved Wooden Dolls By Eva Bey Tra
The creation of a fine all wood doll is extremely complex. Sculpting first in a polymer clay, Eva then has a bronze casting made to be used as a guide for the wood doll parts for consistency and uniformity. Each of these wood parts are then meticulously hand finished. Eva then expressively hand carves and hand paints the fine facial detailing for each doll herself. A piece of maple wood in the hands of German doll artist, Eva Beyerle Traubinger, magically comes to life. Eva began making dolls in 1986. Now her work is found in major collections and museums worldwide.
