Hand-Painted, Canvas Bellied Bears by Oz Matilda

Oz Matilda is the name of Lisa Rosenbaum's Australian based bear company. Lisa began creating bears in 1992 while she was expecting her first child. In 1993 she attended her first bear show where her work was received with great enthusiam. The following year she formed Oz Matilda. Since then, she has created many one of a kind bears and small exclusive editions for organizations such as the Australian Rugby League. Some of her best known bears are her hand-painted, canvas bellied artist bears. These bears are constructed from actual painted canvases. They are not screen or machine printed. These bears feature pictures done in the style of such famous painters as Raphael and Michaelangelo. One of these bears actually set a world record for its sale! So unique is this process that Lisa holds a patent on it. Her costumed bears are no less spectacular: the attention to detail in their dress and accessories is amazing. Oz Matilda bears are a unique addition to any bear collection.
